pie dish standards?
« on: August 11, 2011, 08:33 »
Hi there

Lots of receipes call for a particular size of pie dish for instance 9inches. does this mean 9inches long, if so how deep?

I've just started cooking and most of my older tins dont have dimensions on them.

Can I use a smaller dish for 1 person and if so how do I work out the cooking time/temp?

thanks very much everyone
Princess

I use a 9in round pie dish about 1 1/4 in - 1 1/2 in deep.

If you make smaller pies just cook them at the same temperature until the pastry looks cooked..keep an eye on them  :)
