At this time of year, it doesn't matter if you just plant them, without chitting..

They are very slow to chit anyway.

Remember too that although they are used like new potatoes they are in fact main crop potatoes.  They store very well so give you that new potato experience through the winter.

I would like to try these potatoes but have never seen them for sale down here which is weird because they in fact found there way to the UK from France in the mid 19th C so maybe the go by another name? There is a potato that looks similar called Ratte but not exactly the same as PFA. One problem I do for see however is that being a late maturing potato they may struggle with the very hot temperatures of summer as I have heard it said that potatoes will stop growing at high temperatures ? I may try Ratte the are nobbly but not as nobbly as PFA so probably easier when cooking.

I’ve grown ratte and you can often buy them in the supermarket.  I just scrub PFAs and cook them in their skins.

Are you a seed "chitting" or "no-chit" sort of person?
