how many girls in a run
« on: February 11, 2009, 16:52 »
i have finally measured a area for my new run if council give me permission and its 5 m by 3 m , would this be fine for 5 or 6 birds { ex batts } .

in time they would go with my other girls into the biger run an i would really want to keep the smaler run as a qaunitine area only .

hi andy , i already have 18 girls in my 10m -6 m run on the other plot so i dont want to many more as i am hoping in time the new girls will go with the others. it seems a small space when u say 5 m by 3 but when u look at the area its quite large.

You work out the metre squared which is 5*3=15
Minimum of 1m squared per chicken but it is not really enough.  I would say 7 and a half chickens.

They are building flats up the road from us and the parking area allocated is 1.2 per flat!

You could always do it 14.5 and have 7 whole chickens... they are soooo much nicer looking than the 1/2 chicken  :) :) :)

1/2 roast chicken with pots and veg is more manageable than a whole one ;)
