Just wondering about how many eggs other folks are getting. Here on the homestead I keep about 100 birds About 60 meat birds and now have 45 hens. I average 41 eggs a day.

Hi and welcome, I guess the Tn stands for Tennesee. The amount of eggs can depend on the breed, the age of the birds and the time of year. I am now only getting 3 eggs a day (it was 14) but the nights are now drawing in and the girls are moulting.

Threw the years I've had many breeds. Now I keep Delaware and Plymouth Rocks they do very well for me. Do you keep a light on for them? I do I set it up on a timer, we have numerous egg customers that stop by the homestead to buy their eggs, we get $3.00 usa for them. Come fall and winter I do things a little different, I feed the girls meal-worms and our left-overs from making goat cheese, they love it.

I prefer to let my girls take a natural break over the winter months so no I don't use a light. This way mine keep laying over many years. Luckily the customers I have are prepared to take less eggs over these winter months. I charge £2 a dozen and for this they get assorted coloured eggs (blue, white, light brown and dark brown eggs and different sizes). Looks like the prices are about the same

Out of my 9 new girls, Im getting on average 3 eggs a day, although, in the main they are still very small. One of my Sussex girls is moulting so that takes it down to 8 potential layers. Considering the change of season and the fact they are young girls, I feel very privilidged to be getting any at all. Come spring time though, they will have to pull out all the stops or Ill be shaking that Paxo box at them again.
(In case blackbelt doesnt know, Paxo is the name of a stuffing mix!)

From my six pullets I'm getting 4 or 5 eggs a day - but it's spring here so they're at maximum production!  I'm very interested to see how their laying will change over the year, so I keep careful records.  I love looking at the graph going up every day.

My girls are feeling the temper change I guess, or it could be I cleaned out the house yesterday and their just getting settled in. I only received 31 today Oct 24th. It happens every year though, I put about 18 inches of bedding in for the winter, they really love it. Thank you for the reply' s. Someone mentioned Ban-tees. In Feb I'm going to get me some for the yard and garden.

Will do, spud.  In fact once they've been laying for a year I will post the graph on here to share their first-year results.  The months of the year will be inside out though, so I will need to put a translation so you can understand which of my months relates to which of yours.
