Hi,
We have just bought a secondhand 8ft x 6ft greenhouse. After reading an old thread where someone said they had built a base out of wood and secured it with using metposts in each corner I thought this sounded like a good idea. They just didn't explain how they attached the metposts to the frame.  If anyone else has done this, please could they explain in detail how this is done or suggest a similar way that a secure base can be built using timber?

insert the metposts into the ground, insert stubs of posts, fix the base boards to the posts, position the metposts so they either fall inside the corners or on the edges.

Thanks Grendel, what do you fix the frame to the stubby bits with? Should I drill holes all the way through and put long nuts and bolts?

the easy answer is whatever you want, either screws  or long bolts will do the job.

Thanks I guess I was thinking too far into it.  I'm sure I will feel better about it once I get started.

The weight of ther glass will hold much of it down, so don't worry too much on it blowing away!

If you pave the inside, then make sure the slabs get tucked into the foundation channel, so they help too!
