They look OK BQ. I pinched mine out this year to help them bush out, and although they took ages (about 2 weeks) to show any new growth it has been worth it. Half strength feed every time I water them too  :D

Attached pic is of my overwintered (twice) cayenne peppers in 2013. Started again in 2014 from saved seeds from the plants in the picture, so they are now in their second year, and look similar to the ones pictured (including plenty of fruits.)

I've tried a few different varieties of chillies, but cayenne always seems to be the easiest and most reliable in terms of germination, growth, and fruit production - I don't have any secrets to pass on for success, they just live on that same sunny windowsill 24/7/365 and get watered when I remember, and even fed occasionally too!

Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

Yours don't look unhappy BQ, just a bit smaller than you think they should be - in their first year I only fed mine with tomato feed once they started fruiting, although in subsequent years I feed with general purpose liquid feed too in spring on the assumption that the compost is probably just about done for (yes, I don't even re-pot the poor things! )

How do you manage to keep your plans overwintered JayG? Whatever I seem to do they just die. Kept them in the (unheated) greenhouse (too cold I suspect), kept them in the house on a windowsill, etc., etc.. But never any success.

I managed to keep most of them going over winter, with more success with the ones with the little flame like upright chillies (cant remember what they are called), despite the best efforts of the whitefly and aphids to kill them off.  But now they are just sitting and sulking, without doing anything.  I have fed them Phostrogen - is that the sort of thing you use?

Yours look the same as mine which is pretty much how they looked last year and I got plenty of chilli's from them.  It's early yet for them to come away.  We still have a frost warning at night so I'd rather they didn't get too big too soon or I'll have no room for them on the window sill.

I am growing two Scotch Bonnet chillis.
Should i pinch out the growing tip to make them more bushy?
They are currently doing great about 5 inches tall with loads of leaves on them both.
99% Organic and 1% Slug Pellets.

When it comes to overwintering chillies, I'm a disciple of the late, great, John Cushnie ( Gardeners Question Time). I quote " Don't bother messing about, throw them away and grow new ones".
We come from the earth, we return to the earth, and in between we garden.
