dust bathing

Im not sure whether or not my two chooks are having dustbaths, prehaps its just me and of course im not seeing it.    When i got them they had a big lid thing that i filled with sand for them to dust bath left it in there for a while but they never went in it, not interested, i have seen that there might be somewhere where they are going, under a tree, shall i just leave them to it or do you have to supply them with a proper sand bath.   nickyx

Leave them to it.  As long as they have a patch of soil to dig up into a dust bath they'll be quite happy.  The like a good depth so that the can wallow amd purrrr away :)
