Horrendous wind and very heavy showers this morning. Fortuntaly it cleared up this afternoon and although it was chilly we had a pleasant afternoon.

I woke up and the trees in my yard were festooned with a whole flock of turkey vultures! I think they may be trying to tell me something. :ohmy: :(

Dry (until about half an hour ago) and quite bright. Driving to work the yellow thing in the sky was lovely and warm. Deceived by this I got out the van to find it was a lot colder than I thought! Why did the four customers we had all want things that we keep in the unheated shed at the back of the shop. (Question mark button doesn't work for some reason).

It has been sunny and now there is the start of a beautiful red sunset. I don't like the look of the very grey clouds behind me to the North though. especially as the wind is blowing them this way.

Dry, windless day here but cold. I've only just thawed out after sitting in an unheated shop for three hours this morning and two customers that spent a total of £15.59. Paul was busy doing the maintenance on the flats we own which is why I'm in the shop.

If I said that the sky was too 'bright' I hope you know what I mean. I've lived on the Island for 35 years now and only known it to snow twice. Otherwise it has been bright, dry and chilly.

Had a heavy hail shower earlier, otherwise it's been dry. The garden looked lovely , all white and clean. Ten minutes later it had all gone.

It's not that cold here yet hanging round 1-2c but there's a bitter wind that cut you to the bone. Thermostat in the hall said 9c so I put the heating on to take the chill of. About an hour ago it went thunderstorm black but it's back to the usual dark and grey now.

I went to work today , it was very cold and the shop only has heating by an electric blow heater. Six customers later we left at 1pm as we had been sat there for two hours without seeing anybody. The wind is getting stronger as well. The most surprising thing was that there were surfers in the sea at Compton!!!!

Our central heating is playing up, the thermostat won't go above 15. There's a flap underneath that holds a battery that we can't remember replacing.. I did ask but it was forgotten. Otherwise it's been quite bright, but very chilly day. None of the rain an showers that they predicted.

Warmer +8c first thing this morning, but the wind is also picking up so it doesn't feel it. It's still dark, grey and with drizzle. Not liking the look of the weather for the next couple of days either.

You do appear to get more extremes there but not the months of constant grey gloom we get. Not sure which I prefer, but you can be assured I wouldn't be working outside in -9c without insulated and heated gloves :nowink: That's hot chocolate and slippers by the fireside weather.

The crazy thing is, five days from now we are forecast to have a low of 11 °C and a high of 20 °C! That will come with a long dose of rain (which we don't need ATM, as we had a 5-inch rainstorm early last week and a smaller one after that).
Added later: ATM, it has warmed to a tropical +1 °C, so it's safe enough for a little work outside. Long gone are my days of coping with work outdoors at - 9 °C or close to it!
The bamboo is something I need to do before the work week starts, we have a tree company coming in, and the bamboo needs to be out of their way.

Bad luck, it was awful wasn't it!! I had a few pots blown over, so soil and bulbs strewn all over the place, but no serious damage. I think the hedgerow saved us from the worst of it.
6C and sunny this morning, and despite MetO saying it is still windy, it's dead calm, thank goodness!

It's not been good looking a the papers, roofers are going to be busy people. I heard a couple of bangs during the night but I can't see any damage this morning, the wind was across the valley I'm in rather than down it which is probably why. Alexa tells me It's 8c and I'm sitting here shivering with 4 layers on, and it's dark, grey and miserable out there - but at least dry for now.

Very windy around teatime yesterday, heard a bang but couldn’t see anything, turns out the patio table had been blown over-heavy glass, thankfully still ok…phew.

Mrs. Sub_p says that she heard our next rain event is forecast to give us 6 to 10 inches of rain over 4 days. That is likely coming with our own storms (cold air mass up against a warm air mass).

This balk of timber was blown over the remaining carport roof and landed exactly as you see it. Six inches to the left and it would have demolished the greenhouse. :ohmy:

Despite being well into the 'amber warning zone' for gale force winds, the maximum gust here yesterday was a fairly modest 53mph. - rainfall less than half an inch, so much luckier than many people elsewhere (including dear Aunt Sally, clearly. :()
I was going to try to do a bit in the garden today, but at 8C and very windy I might just wimp out and do some equally pressing jobs in the GH... :unsure:

We were ! We were trying to fix a rope to it to tie it down when a HUGE gust took the 8 ft section up into the air and deposited it 100 ft away in our back garden :wub:
We weren’t injured (luckily) but I was blown off my feet and grazed my hand.
Our builder came round this morning to cost out the repair.

Grey, foggy or misty, ( whichever you want to call it) and really miserable. Fog lights and headlights on every journey. The wind started picking up about about 11am and is now whistling round the house. Rain on and off all day. One customer all day, but I'm busy doing the Vat return so it was nice to work in peace.

It got gusty here from about 3, I opened the door because the cat was crying outside and rather than just walk, he got blown in ::)

Everyone still safe ? The change in wind direction did us no favours. I heard a few tiles/parts of tiles slide down the roof overnight and there as large limb torn from a tree in the park which has take out all the lighting and electrical cables.
It's settled down a bit now but sill breezy, 6c and dry so far with the standing water drying fast in the wind.

Our long-range forecast (which I tend not to believe more than a week out) forecasts significantly warmer than normal weather through the first week of March, with only a rare flirtation with 0oC overnight. In late February, if the forecast for a warm March seems to be holding, I will be starting courgettes and cucumbers (indoors) much earlier than usual. I may sow peas and broad beans in a week or two. So... unofficially, spring sprung ??? 8) :wacko:?

We're back to it being grey and dark, the temperature has dropped a bit too 3c generally meh. I did notice a patch of snowdrops open in the park this morning so things are stirring.

Cold and frosty here. I can see silvery frost on the roofs of the houses in the street. The sky is quite hazy, but the sun is doing its best to get through it.
Hopefully the haze will burn off and we have a semi-decent day.

We drove to work in continual rain, with 'wobbly wheels' while we went over over the top at Tennyson Downs, after that it cheered up and has been a pleasant afternoon.

Today has been even better. There has been a lot of sunshine and although it is not exactly warm, I have been outside at the plot and in the garden for a few hours.

And the same here, really depressing as 'they' said it was going to get milder. Paul had a Hospital appointment this morning so had the day off and we booked an appointment at the dump. Got cold and damp getting rid of our and FIL's rubbish that couldn't go in the wheelie bin.

Torrential rain on the way to work. Paul was supposed to deliver a piece of glass 4 foot by 3 foot but phoned up the customer and said it was too dangerous for him to carry it from the shed to the van in the wind. They agreed and Paul will do it tomorrow when hopefully this wind will have died down. Horrendous journey on the way home with cross winds along the coastal road.

Down to 1 or 2 last night.
Had to bring tomatoes and French beans into house from the conservatory.
Now surged ! Up to 7 degrees with drizzle for the next couple of hours.
Fingers crossed the weather warms up soon.

Tomato plants aren't blue, but they're a lot darker green than usual, that's what I'm telling myself anyway ... pffft

Samish again today, just 1C LOWER on each temp reading :ohmy:.... So glad I decided to bring tom, peppers and H/Hardy plants indoors.

OK this morning, if a little grey. Got my grass cut at home. It gets punished by chickens, so never looks great, but at least it’s not long and untidy … just short and scrappy ::) :lol:

Grey, damp, dull and we had rain overnight so everything still a bit wet and drippy. I have been out in the greenhouse potting on and generally messing about re-arranging things, which I had convinced myself would make more space :lol:
It was OK with a fleece on and a jacket, but quite nice to come back in from. It is not exactly cold, but definitely cool and the wind has a bit of a bite.

6C in the greenhouse overnight, that's a great improvement on the last few nights. Fingers crossed it stays frost-free from now on....

A few heavy showers with bright spots in between. I do wish it would make up it's mind, I only work 3 or 4 days a week but would love to go outside and 'do' something. I've had my left knee replaced but the right one needs doing so holds me back.

It was pretty dreadful yesterday morning, but eventually brightened up late afternoon. Today we have blue sky and sunshine and it is a lot milder than recent mornings :D

Someone turned summer on :ohmy: A warm 16c , blue skies and no rain. There was a bit of a breeze taking the edge off but nothing horrific and I was down to just a t-shirt from yesterdays t-shirt, sweater and hoodie.

It's been lovely warm and sunny this afternoon, so tomatoes have now been planted in the greenhouse :D

Bright am but this afternoon has started to rain. The decking gets slippery and I went a over t on it just now. Serves me right for not putting on proper shoes. Landed on my knees which are not my strong point.

After an overcast but warm day our rain started at dinner time yesterday and it's been off and on all night. It's currently warmer at 10c but with a bitter wind, it's also very dark and looks like storms are in order. Not an outside day at all.

One large clap of thunder at 3am but after that just rumbling in the distance. As always our thunder storms are more electrical than noisy. Overcast but dry all day today. Haven't been outside so can't comment on the temperature.
