Early May Flowers
« on: January 23, 2011, 12:51 »
I'm renewing my wedding vows on the 6th May, and would like to have lots of nice flowers at the party.  I need to keep the costs down and don't really want to buy them, but also I know it is early in the flower season.  Can I plant them and bring the flowering time forward by putting in a polytunnel?  Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Here's a site that lists some flowers available in May (from a flower arrangers perspective)
Most of the flowers i have in my garden that are out that early are biennials, so they wouldnt fit a "need it in a few months" situation?

Sorry, I don't think you understood what I meant.  I wanted to find out if I planted flowers in a polytunnel for instance, would they flower earlier?

They should flower earlier in the polytunnel.........but wouldn't know which plants to suggest.

I think the missing link was to give you an idea of which flowers you could plant, hence the comment about them not being suitable for your situation.  ;)

Forgot the link...
I can't find the original link so here's another one (this one is actually better, it has more annuals on it)

They are all flowers that are blooming in May, which i think is what you mean?
