I'm hoping that your new toy has put you in a mood where you're feeling geneourous towards your fellow man...

...would you be willing to share your banana bread recipe? I've got some bananas to use up and I quite fancy some cake  :).
My music teacher was right. If you have to make a mistake, make it good and big and loud; with a bit of luck people will think that it was always meant to be like that.

Thanks, I'll give that a go this afternoon. Have you tried freezing the finished loaf at all?

No, it never lasts long enough.  Can't see why it wouldn't though.

Right-ho, will give it a whirl, it's just I've got enough bananas to make a couple of batches so might try freezing one.

The secret is to have the bananas really brown, the rest is easy.

I make banana bread in our bread machine - it's a cross between a cake and a bread in texture. Simple recipe includes chopped walnut and lemon rind.

Never freeze it as it's always eaten soon after it cools!

I put dried currants in mine as we're tired of too many raisin recipes and daughter doesn't like nuts. Makes a nice change with the currants.

Did those who wanted it get a banana bread recipe?

I've been lost on site for a while.... only just got back here tonight

I'd be happy to add my bread-maker banana bread recipe over the week-end if it is of any use to anyone.  :)

I'd be interested in a breadmaker banana bread recipe!  I love banana bread/loaf cake but whenever I make it it turns out like a brick - I know it's supposed to be reasonably dense, but I get past 'a bit dense' into 'might as well be plutonium'!

My early loaves were like that.  The recipe said to use three bananas so I tried using one extremely ripe and very brown banana instead.  The texture improved no end.
