Just tried to make the cottage cheese - what am I doing wrong?

Hello all
I just had a bash at making the cottage cheese as described on this site, but two pints of milk only made about a tablespoon of the stuff. Is this right? And if not, what can I have done wrong?
The recipe implies the curdling all happens pretty quickly - should I have left it for a few hours?
