Hi all
Have brought some onion sets
Wen is best time to start them and in a greenhouse or outside?

They've just been sitting in the shed for few weeks

Cheers dave

Outside and by the end of march, I have some sets in store ready for when I get a minute.

Be careful they don't freeze with the cold weather that's forecast for the next few weeks

If you can give them some protection such as a greenhouse you can start them off in small pots of MPC and plant them out when the weather improves. It gives them a head start.

I'll have to pass on solway cropper's advice, as I have too many sets and not enough under cover space

But if you are only growing a few, or want to get some a step ahead, it is a great idea  :D
