Title: Shredded paper
Post by: RichardA on May 07, 2008, 18:06
we have adopted two white Aylesbury ducks (gender unknown) - its a very very long story (involves  a school and my wife who is a teacher and several misplaced ducks) . We can get some straw and are working on a regular supply but can we also safely use newspaper or shredded office paper as bedding. Needless to say it all goes on the compost heap eventually. This is just a rescue situation but now my wife seems to have ambitions to expand the flock !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Two problems

First of all, your ducks will turn from white to blue from the print on the paper.
I've used it and if it becomes wet and then drys, its  like concrete and is a beggar to clean out but at the end of the day, it certainly wont hurt your ducks.

Sorry Richard, but as anyone on the forum will tell you - that's it now, you're in it for life

I envy you though - I'd love to have ducks, duck eggs are just the BEST  :D .  Assuming you've got at least one girl, obviously
