Title: Getting excited... quail due any day now
Post by: Casey76 on July 05, 2010, 14:36
It was day 15 yesterday... so hoping to hear the patter of (very) tiny feet in the next three days!

How exciting!

Mine amazed me how quickly most hatched. I'd look through the top and nothing happening, nobody pipped, come back an hour later and there would be 2 running about!

They are very cute when they first hatch but grow amazingly fast. Can't believe mine are laying in just 7 weeks!

Would love a couple of quail, do you happen to know if they would co-habit ok with chickens?

Quail need to be kept in an enclosure, like an aviary, because they are so skittish (they never really become hand tame)

I would also think they would be at risk from attack as my chickens attack birds of a similar size to my quail when they come into the garden.
