noisy chicken

I have had my 4 lovely chickens for about 10 days now... they seem happy and have been laying eggs for about 5 days, today one of my hens has been terribly vocal, she is rosey very loudly, and wandering around the nesting boxes... any ideas as to why she is being so noisy today, i'm a little worried.

Some chickens like to announce their eggs and so can be very vocal at that time, they can also sometimes like to announce the eggs of all the other chickens too.

Mine get all gobby when the are coming into lay, this can last a few days before actually producing anything.  They don't seem to make as much fuss when they are actually laying

One of mine can be noisy all day until she actually lays the egg then she is much quieter.  The hen I am thinking of in particular is a Polish and thankfully she is in full moult now so no eggs and no noise.
40 hens, 8 cockerels, 3 dogs, 2 rabbits, 8 chinchillas, 2 teenage daughters and O/H

Thanks everyone. . . it all became clear and far less worrying when she finally produced her first egg, a lovely brown one, she has been much calmer since. :)

Check if she's in the nesting box often
