I'll let you know if I seez 'em again.  Picked the acorns up on the canal towpath of the LLangolen canal while on a short autumnal break.    (no idea just what type of oak).   Cheers,    Tony.

"Great oaks from little acorns grow"*

That will be great if they all grow. :D I hope you have somewhere roomy to plant them... ::)

They'll likely grow. Darned squirrels keep hiding them in my flower gardens and I've had to dig up quite a few maturing specimens to replant elsewhere  >:(

"They"  are restoring the Berks and Wilts, or is it Wilts and Berks ? canal and it will go just along our allotment site,  I thought a few along the bank would be pleasant.   :D   Cheers,     Tony.

You could try this....

Not to everyone's taste I know.
As with Trillium, we have them appearing all over the place, I've often thought about bonsai but never get round to it......frightened of failure  ::)

Don't worry if your job is very small
And your rewards are few.
Remember that the mighty oak
Was once a nut, like you.

That's a great idea to add some oaks to the country side, Tony  :D

We grew some from acorns at school some years ago. They do grow a decent tap root frialy quickly and might need a little more space that thre per pot will give them, especially as they will no doubt have a good germination rate.

We only kept one of 'our trees' on iste (we have several oaks already) and it is now a good size tree after 12 years.

Good feeling that it is home grown  :D :D

Best of luck with the project  :D :D

I already have some 'Supermarket flower pots' lined up.  Holes drilled in the base.

Sadly I didn't keep a leaf to pin down the variety.   Hopefully early next year I'll be able to name it.       Cheers,    Tony
