but can you eat cauli leaves?  I eat brocoli leaves but have never been sure about cauli?

sunday dinner as a child always included some cauli leaves. only the small tender ones from the middle mind, but they were lovely. preferred them to the cauliflower!

Nothing is ever a stupid question on this site - don't forget you're talking to people who love digging, weeding, receiving frost-bite in winter, and sunstroke in summer, suffering wasp/bee stings, bit by ants, attacked by nettles/wild bramble, etc, etc, etc

Anyway, when I was little my favourite veg was cauli greens = much preferred it to cabbage.

Perhaps not eaten as a veg in itself..but definately put into a stock/soup.

You know, I have never tried them.  Never even thought of it!  Will give them a go, although the chickens will be devastated as they usually get them!

It's strange how people throw away perfectly edible parts of a plant. Carrot tops, beetroot, celery and turnip leaves, pea pods can all be eaten. As togalosh says, if you don't fancy it as a veg just bung it in some soup.

Tops, tails and outer leaves of most things get added to the stock pot along with any bones left from sunday roast (or cheap from the butcher).
