If you pour a bottle of Talisker along the rows. . . they come up ready pickled ! ! !    Cheers,   Tony.

We are trying gherkins for the first time too. But our variety is Venlo pickling. Our plan is to sow this weekend in a coldframe and then plant out late May.

Should be fun to see what happens!

I'm growing Cornichon de Paris, tiny little gherkin ones, according to the blurb 

We'll see.........a couple more weeks before i do mine, then I won't have to pot them on

I'm trying the Venlo, too.  I have some planted in pots indoors and they are just coming through.  I love pickled gerkins but have never tried to grow them myself before.
