Black Eyed Susan Vine

Is it ok to keep the seed pods on these plants or should you 'dead head' them like you should on other flowering plants?  They do look attractive though - sort of little lanterns!
Dogs were born with three legs and a spare.

It's an annual, isn't it?  If so, I'd remove most of the seed pods to start with.  And then keep some of them back towards the end of the season for use next year.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
