I broke my spade :( Inevitable I suppose given the tonnes of stuff I move with it. I really want to replace like for like as it's a very comfortable spade for me to use.
Does anyone have a favourite handle supplier? I've found a few for sale online but they're a little sketch regarding angle and socket size.

That looks like a comfortable handle. Did you break the handle or the shaft? If the shaft, I'd just get a replacement as they're readily available and re-fit it onto the handle and plate. I've got a hospital full of good shovels broken at the shaft and plate :(

If the split in the socket is the problem i would epoxy (araldite) the split ,whip with strong thread straight away then coat the thread with epoxy.
Done many such repairs over the years ! :)

It's cracked vertically from the start of the plastic through the rivet and across the top :( I think it's beyond even araldite.

I kept doing that so switched over to a border spade, less weight on the neck ;) I've probably cracked this twisting the handle whilst mixing concrete in the barrow  I knew I should have bought a cheap disposable one for doing that but never got round to it.
I think I've been lucky as far as I can see the shaft is fine. Had a good look in the shed and I've got a replacement shaft with a D handle on :D it feels a little light weight but I might drill out the rivet and see if it fits tomorrow, that should tide me over until I can get a heavy duty version with a bit more Y and less D.

I completely understand - I'm very attached to my spade too
