Im trying to find out what Pick-Ur-Own strawberry places do with all the used strawberry grow bags. I suspect if you mix them with loam it would make great stuff to grow tates in.

I have to admit that I've only ever seen PYO strawberries growing straight in the soil around here.

I used the plastic sacks my manure came in to grow courgettes in. They were green ones and I thought they'd be fine as containers as I couldn't be bothered to empty the muck (bad back day).  I rolled the bag neatly down, made a few holes in the bottom and plonked a courgette in each one. They grew fine

We grew potatoes in feed buckets. One of the local farmers just leaves them strewn over the field when he has emptied them and says 'help yourself' so we did. Just drilled holes in the bottom, filled with a mix of soil and compost, planted the potatoes and waited. Potatoes were delicious and much earlier than the ones we plant in the ground. Will definitely be doing again next year.
