hi can anybody give me some advice please.my father-inlaw is growing swift potatoes in big pots,they look like they was doing well,but as he got them out the potatoes were split is this too much water or not enough???

If they're at a size when you'd like to eat them, go for it now  :D

and second earlies?
I have some Kestrel in the plot and they are now flowering. Haven't done a test rummage yet. Should I?

Personally I find Kestrel are best treated as an early main crop and left to maturity. They make a nice size spud that stores well.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
