Title: The boys are in with the girls!
Post by: New shoot on September 06, 2010, 20:23
Got a week off starting today so thought it would be an ideal time to integrate my 2 new boys into the main flock.

They have been out together in the garden a few times now - this was today

I rattled the mealworm bag to get the girls back home and the boys pelted into the run as well, so I thought OK let's give it a go.  They were a few very minor spats but everyone was pretty relaxed.  They got corn, windfall apples and some greens as distractions.

Come bedtime the boys were a little lost so put them on a perch and everyone settled down to sleep.  Fingers crossed for the morning, but everything seems to be going fine so far  :D  :D  :D

They are indeed very handsome fellas. The Brad Pitt and Jonny Depp of the chook world. Those girls are very lucky, I just hope they form an orderly queue!!!!!

The hen you are talking about is my elderly Vorwark magicaltoad.  She is 7 now and the hen house's matriach.

As for Brad and Jonny Mary, they came steaming out this morning and had a few spats trying to dominate the girls, who are not too impressed so far - distinct feeling of who do these little posers think they are this morning   They then had a crowing session on top of the hen house and are installed up there now with their own food and water, just in case they get pushed off the main supply. The copper one is Foghorn and the white one Alphie and they are surplus Serama boys from Chookiechook  :)
