When I had a privet, I didnt, it never sort of rotted away, I dunno if anything ever ate the leaves

I tried putting it in a bin with garotta, that never worked,
I covered it with a tarp, still there the following year, just brown with age and cobwebs

But others may have better results, as you have shredded it, I didnt

I burnt my privet down in the end  :)

I hated it
It's all about the journey, not the destination

My garden is surrounded by privet hedges front and back which are "protected" in the Deeds from being uprooted (so they are over 80 years old now and still going strong!)

I've been composting the clippings for all of the 11 years I've lived here; I wouldn't say it makes the best compost and any really woody bits will take a long time to rot down, but compost is compost and at least it has no weed seeds in it!
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older

I always used to throw the clippings in a seperate bin, cos they take longer to rot down than other stuff :)
