You may remember that for Christmas I bought my daughter and s-in-l, a Schweggler Blue Tit box. The family are there busily popping in and out to feed their brood. But at lunch time today, sparrows started to dive-bomb the box, look into the hole and sit on the roof of the box. My heart has been pounding and so I rang the RSPB.
The lady told me it is not unusual for this to happen and there is nothing I can do. Eventually the sparrows moved on a bit, and immediately the mum and dad started their feeding regime - relief !
Oddly enough, this morning there was a sparrowhawk in my garden and he was trying to get into a hawthorn where the sparrows meet up. Nature, what a worry. Mrs Bouquet
