Chicken Plans
« on: September 18, 2011, 16:48 »
When work quietens down for the winter I am planning to build our coop and run for about 6 Cochins.

Would you think that it would be better to wait until the spring to introduce the flock to their new home? Or should we just get them as soon as we are set up?

I am also keen to keep everything organic so any advice on natural foods, cleaning agents, mite control etc would be very useful. Thank you.

With all that said: We live just south of Bath so will be looking for a decent Cochin supplier in the area. Anyone got any recommendations?

Thank you all you wise ones..hc

before getting your birds please consider how much room you have. If they are to be kept in the run perminantly then they will need about 3 square meters of clear run space per bird then some space for the coop and their feeder and drinker.
For good quality birds try contacting the Cochin club:-

If you wish to be as organic as possible then you can buy organic food such as Allen and page, you can help protect from redmite with diatomaceous earth powder, but for worming I would always advise flubenvet - not organic but does work.
Staffies are softer than you think.
