i have chickens but want to get a few ducks . is there such thing as a duck that cant fly ? ...... if so what breed is it. i want ducks that lay eggs alot and cant get out of my open top pen the fence is about 6 foot   ..ish ....  so any help on what is good for this idea of mine would be great . oh and my chickens would have to be ok with the breed of duck .  as in they can go togther in same very very large pen

Hi lotty shed. Sounds like you're describing runners to a tee.

They do need quite a bit of space though I think. No idea what the minimum area would be. But I know a lot of peeps who do !

ahh  i see ... dont tell me they are ver very expencive   . its that type of day today. well they sound good then

I think they're cheap enough but you need to be sure you can give them what they need.

They need a small pool of water that would need changing every couple of days and they love to turn dirt into mud.

yeah i can seprate for houseing if need room and land is no problem for me i have lots of room . can they live in same area as chickens ?

Most domestic ducks don't fly well I have Campbells, Appleyards and a cayuga and none of them can get over a 4 foot fence.
