Pinholes in my Turnip leaves
« on: April 25, 2011, 01:42 »
My turnip seedlings went in with clean leaves but are now showing pin holes in the leaves. Is this the work of flea beetles?

Is the solution to plant them out when they are a bit bigger so they survive the attack better?

Looks like flea beetles to me, get a piece of cardboard about a4 size and cover with treacle, gently move the cardboard across the tops of your plants working down the row. The beetles jump in the air and stick to the treacle.

Dry weather always makes flea beetle worse, if we could have a few good down pours (or good hosing if you can use one) that gets rid of most of them.
