Title: Monro tiller villiers mk12
Post by: mitzygolf on August 25, 2022, 16:26
Hi it’s me again. I solved the spark problem by fitting a new condenser but now nothing I do can get the engine firing. I have checked the timing several times and it looks spot on to me. I spray a little carb cleaner in to the pot turn her over and not a chance of firing. Any ideas

Hello dont use carb cleaner pour a tea spoon of petrol into the spark plug hole with engine at top dead centre then pull it over are you setting the points at top dead centre it wont fire if it's not,  ,is it the 2 stroke or 4 stroke engine,2 strokes need the petrol mix exact as I found out with an Allen scythe with a 2 stroke engine   jezza

Thanks for the reply. I'll try with the petrol, it's a 4 stroke and the timing is set as per hand book I'll let you know how I get on

Hello theres not much stops them old engines unless  it's a seize,my uncle had an old Vilkiets 2 stroke Allen scythe new points and correct fuel mix  it started first time and it's the E 10 fueI have an old Ransones with a,JAP engine built July 1966  2 turns on the crank handle the magnetic clocks then a good kick on the kick starter and its away    jezza
