Title: Water butt

Just noticed I've got a small split the bottom of my water but I've only had a couple of years How can I repair this Any ideas

I noticed this afternoon that my water but is leaking how can I repair this It's got a split at the bottom

Hello i used a black water proof mastic type stuff it came in a tube with a nozzle,I squeezed it in to the split and 18 lead pellet holes (water butt was shot )it set as soon as the water touched it  so couldnt smooth it off I just used a Stanley knife and trimmed the excess off,it wont set with out water    jezza

I used a miniature (15w) electric soldering iron to weld the split together (I used a Stanley knife to cut a thin strip of plastic from the edge of the lid to use as 'solder' to reinforce the repair.)

Fiddly, but it has worked for me on more than one occasion.

black stuff is probably roof and gutter sealant, toolstation
