Just been told that if you have an old briggs engine that aint workin so good, scrap it     cos by the time you order the new parts, if you can get em and fiddle with it you may as well get a new engine /honda/or new b&s engine.

If you look on ebay you can get a new 5.5hp honda engie for £78.
But the new b&s engines are supposed to be ok and easy to fix.
Bet gwiz has summet to say :D

Mate of mine's an engineer and He's told be that B&S are starting to make engines with no serviceable parts so once its knacked it's knacked !! But he did say that he got the info from a boating forum on about outboards, so whether they will take the same approach with their lawnmower/tiller engines is any ones guess.  :?
He who asks is a fool for five minutes, but he who does not ask remains a fool forever.

keep seeing a lot of these HATZ diesel engines on the plant that we hire,
we had a mixer last week with a single cylinder diesel engine and was so smooth and quiet, well worth a look at
feed the soil not the plants

because everyone wants every thing at the lowest price, companys are now making throw away engines.
think about it,
go to b+q and buy a whole mower for £99. (petrol one)
want it serviced mate?
that`ll be £50 + parts.
bog that says Mr punter, i will chuck it away and buy another.

not very enviromentally friendly in the long run is it? consider all the energy and resources that have gone into making it in the first place.
there wont be many mower engineers around soon. we are getting few and far between.
