This is probably a daft question......
When I got my girls, the farmer gave me a bag full of what looked like oyster shell/grit.

I assumed it was oyster shell so went out to buy some poultry grit yesterday.  On looking at it, it is exactly the same as what he gave me.  The bag does say mixed poultry grit.

will this be suitable instead of buying two seperate products.

sorry no oyster shell is needed for bone formation and to make eggs shell . you need to buy a product called OESTRA.  ,ask your feed supplier to get you a sack .cost about £7  this will last for yonks . just put a couple of cup fulls in your feeder hopper every couple months or so or put soem ina feeder trough and top it up when its empty and just broad cast the grit a handfull at a time every 3 mths or so on the coop floor they wil take what they want when they want  :)
still alive /............
