I started processing my table birds yesterday... decided I'd do them two at a time - i can't wait to try one out
Lessons learned:
1) Scalding in hot water makes plucking my hand much easier.
2) Wings are a pain in the behind to pluck
3) Don't use broom handle method in the kitchen... had an unfortunate accident with the second one and I (and my kitchen) ended up looking like something from CSI
So I now have two plucked birds resting in my downstairs fridge and I'll dress them tonight. Obviously they don't look like supermarket chickens, but they are a decent weight, and I'll weigh them (and note the weight by breed in a book) once they are dressed.
