Sorry, I wasn't clear - I meant how much water do you add to how much powder.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

One or two small cups of powder to two to three cups of water. Leave to soak overnight. Some people boil the mixture and then let it cool but you need to be careful if doing that.

Make a sloppy paste of it.

I've also found the spontex none stick scouring pads ( These ) excellent after a soaking in warm water. Much better than other pads Id tried, even their heavy duty ones.

Not that I have to clean off burnt food regularly or anything

yes I would go with the soap powder but you may have to steep it after to get rid of the smell of the soap powder

Well, the soap powder worked  :D.  It did take several days' soaking and a change of powder halfway through, but I ended up without needing to scrub at all.

Not sure if I cleaned it sufficiently after soaking, before boiling up the crabble juice / sugar - time will tell when I eat it, I guess  ::)

I borrowed this idea for the latest time I burnt the rice (don't ask!  ::) )...  the previous time it had been a mammoth liquid cif scrubbing exercise.  This way a 24 hour soak and a rinse out.  Brilliant.  Thank you all!!
