Good afternoon everyone,  with the help of the memsahib we've planted six different types of spud (only between 5 & 6 ) but they will be good to have grown some of our own.

It seems that caffiene/caffeine sends the worms in the compost heap a liitle lustfull, apparently.  As we don't drink coffee I suppose I can add tea (after cutting and emptying the tea bags)?  I'm annoyed at digging up tea bag material years later.

The last post I put on here was that a friend of mine - who has been growing for many years, said exactly the same thing. Put any drop/piece of coffee/tea you can into your compost/manure heap, because the worms absolutely love it. He's been doing it for many years, and the quality of his compost/manure is LUSH!

I've read that caffeine kills snails and slugs, have not tried it for that purpose though. My coffee grounds always go to the compost.

Hello when I worked at a market garden the tea leaves from the pot at our tea breakers went into a 40 gallon barrel of water,on a Friday afternoon it was stirred up and an oxygenation pump put in it wad checked on a Monday morning if it wasnt the right brown colour(usually checked against bosses shirt )more tea leaves were added till it was right then left a week,then it was used as a cucumber feed through diluters at 6 fluid ounces to 30 gallons of water lettuce got 4 fluid ounces  and tomatoes 2 once they started flowering     jezza
