if there is anyone near Holloway Road there are skips and skips of good wood and other stuff being taken away each day and would be free to a good home...

I assume you or someone you know, has asked permission to remove items from these skips?

Yes, I have (wouldn't take without asking) and they would be really glad for it to go to a good home rather than landfill. There is at least one enormous skip going per day at the moment. I'd be taking loads if I didn't live on the other side of London. The building isn't that easy to find, and Holloway Road is very long, so I assume anyone interested would PM me.

Intstead of building and filling a raised bed a couple of feet depth and using it for shallow stuff, why not build it on stilts, making it shallow with holes in the bottom for drainage. Saves bending down when weeding.

The cheapest way i have found is to ask around and get pallets - broken or whole
just remove the planks carefully and then just make the raised beds out the wood - takes a few pallets and a bit of time but once painted look just as good as when you spend lots on scaffold planks

I asked my local scaffold companies and i could get unusable boards for about £6 each but i still didnt wanna pay that lol
