Hi, I have been holding off planting my tomatos and chillis due to the poor weather, this is my fist year so I am not sure if I plant them in an allotment this weekend if I would be too early? Also I had planned to out them under a polytunnel throught the summer to protect the, is this a good idea or can they get too hot?

Any advice welcome!

It's the same for all tender plants rikknikk.
So long as there are no more frosts forecast you will be ok.
Yu will need to harden them off though before you put them out permanently.

Look at your local forecast for next week, mine says a return to northerly winds and colder weather again ......so it's really down to your own judgement

Growing them in a poly tunnel is no different to a greenhouse, provided it's well ventilated when hot.

Chillies and tomatoes will almost certainly do better in a polytunnel than outside, if that is what you are planning, but as DD says don't let them roast until after you've picked them!

Ahh, so you mean plant the seeds.
I thought you meant you already had plants and that you were going to plant them out and then put a tunnel over them or someting like that

thanks I might try a few then, will putting outside for a couple of days 1st be enough or do they need longer.

Silly question but how do I get ventalation in my polytunnel?!

If your putting them in a polly tunnel then you don't need to harden them off at all.
And open the door on the tunnel  to ventilate and open the side flaps if it has any

no I do mean plants that I have grown from seed

If they've got good roots on them (just pop them out of the pot an have a look) then they can go straight into the tunnel.
