What do Italian cucumber plants look like?
« on: April 28, 2008, 20:27 »
I know it is a stupid question, but what do Italian cucumber plants look like?  Do they come up and look  like  ´normal´ cucumber plants?  I´ve had some planted in a pot for a month or so and there are plants coming up but they look nothing like the  plants I bought from the garden center.  I´ve looked on the T & M web page, but there is no hint as to what they should look like.  I´m probably cherishing weeds. Sorry I can´t post a photo to show you what they look like- with the slow dial up internet I can´t get a photo onto the photobucket page :(

Olive, I think they should look pretty much the same, the seed leaves are very different though to the rest.

One or two are a couple of inches high and look really different from my other cue plants so I think I must be looking after weeds :D

You are interpreting wrong, I mean, Italian cucumber is local lingo for another plant, maybe.

No, they don't. It's just cultivars of cucumber and they don't call any of them under a separate heading 'Italian cucumber', do  they?

Well............. I looked under search veg and then under the sub heading...........Italian Cucumber............. then it came up with:
Vita Sementi Italian Vegatables     So maybe they are a type that is popular in Italy!!
I know the packet had Italian Cucumber written all over it and the packet........In fact I´ve lied to you, I´ve just had a search of my seed tin and the packet was at the bottom of the pile of seeds.......

The Taste of Italy  Cetriolo/Cucumber Marketer  Authentic Italian Seed.  Shame it doesn´t show what the plants come up like :(

I've just planted some Italian cuke seeds today. the fruit looks like the long telegraph type cukes but the pic doesn't show the leaves. I assumed they'd look very similar so I'll know in another few days (I hope).
