off chicken

one of my chooks has been laying soft eggs or just splattered when perching for about a week. now i have noticed one chook sitting on her own and closing her eyes . anybody got any ideas thanks taximan.

Do they have access to grit? How are the poos? any discharge from eyes, node of mouth?

Do you give them access to crushed oyster shell (or you can wash empty egg shells then bake them and crush them), they need this for the calcium, grit is to help them gring up their feed as they have no teeth.How old is the hen?
Laying soft shelled eggs does make a hen appear unwell and if it breaks inside her it can be dangerous.
Staffies are softer than you think.

i have four chooks. they have access to layer pellets all the time .have been putting oyster shell on chopped apples,trying to make sure they are eating some. oystershell in tub at coop which they dont touch. freerange in the garden all day. just put fresh corn scatterad on garden to get car on drive but she only ate a few bits. have noticed where she was sat  very watery poo. thanks taximan.

the watery pooh could be that she is drinking a lot more now that the weather is warmer (there does seem to have been a lot of posts commenting on this recently). Have you checked her poohs against the photos in the poultry information section? How old is she taximan?

she dropped another egg sack last night and has perked up loads today. ther seems to be alot of this around the threads do u think i could be something todo with the time of year or just something in the air

two eggs on coop floor yesterday so fragile fingers went through the . today three good eggs all chooks ok .i just cant fathom it.
