When to lift Sturon Onions
« on: July 18, 2008, 17:30 »
Hi I planted 100 sturon onion sets in mid march and they are now mostly a good size.
At what point do i lift them?
Is there a 'usual' month that you lift them or is each year different.
The foliage is still green and vertical but I can see a bit of droop this past week.

Thanks FB

They'll tell you!

They'll all go a bit yellow & flop over.

Leave them for a fortnight or so then tease then out with a fork. Leave them somewhere dry to dry out (duh!). If you're lucky, that's outside.

You can make a simple drying rack by fastening chicken wire to wooden supports.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
