I was going to say that it wasn't as successful as I hoped but to be fair it was the most productive bed of the three. I think the main problems were due to the wet weather last year. I'm trying it again this year, so far I have garlic and shallots planted in 10 of the squares. The red kale in the picture (which came from a packet of seed labelled calabrese !!) is still growing and I have some small strawberries that have rooted across about 4 squares.

I've geared up for this but my chosen bed is full of other stuff at the mo.  I looked on the RHS Harlow Carr site and they give advice on specific varieties of veggies to grow in this kind of set up.  I don't need to do it as I've plenty of room on my lotty but I like to try different things. Keeps me interested

That's a lovely photo and just shows what you can achieve in a small space.

The boss did this last year and he reckons it was very productive, he will be altering a few things this year he says so we will see.

I hate rows I won't grow anything in rows. My beds are all mixed with about 2/3 veg and 1/3 flowers with them all intermingled  :D
