hello there, just done one myself a couple of weeks ago and the advice i was given off the good people here was to try and keep all the offerings in equal (ish ) amounts so you dont put too much of one type in.

veg waste, shredded garden  waste, grass, some leaves and shredded paper, egg boxes and toilet rolls along with twigs to create air pockets.

there is lots of info in the search facility at the top of your page, if ive got owt wrong i'm sure someone will be along soon to tell me off lol  :D

erm i mean to help you lol  . . . . . .

I've had one going for almost a year now and it's amazing how much you can put in! I always repeat a layer of fresh veg peelings or grass with something dry like leaves or torn newspaper and egg boxes.

sometimes i've had the problem where i had too much dry stuff and so I'd water it a bit, and I buy the organic compost powder that you sprinkle on and water in. this gets everything going a bit quicker.

If you are putting in any woody stems or twigs make sure you cut them up or they will take too long to break down.
