Hi Lisa

I've deleted your post in Chicken chat to save any confusion :)

There is a list of breeders and egg suppliers in our poultry pages here ...

If you try ebay and do a search for 'hatching eggs', 'Distance:nearest first'.
You might find someone close by you can collect from.

You can buy them on ebay and get them through the post.

But as they say posting can affect the hatch rate, if you are ever up near Boston, let us know and I'll give you a few Appenzellar eggs!!!  Before Brian gets fed up with the dopey cockerel and culls him!!!

posting first class they go through the mailing drums and air sacs can get broken. Go for Special delivery its hand sorted also look for the ones posting in polystryne egg boxes,
do check who are selling near you collection is always better.

That's interesting Snowflake thank you!

I sent my daughter's in laws 6 appenzellar eggs first class and they got zilch hatch.  But chickenlady hatched me some and we got 4 out of 6, and I'm just waiting to see what hatches out of the 10 I've got in my incubator now.

It is very important when having eggs sent through the post to leave them to settle for 24 hours before incubating.
It make a big difference.

Interesting about the 24 hr settling period after a car journey- I didn't do this and none of my broody's  eggs hatched - but have now put 3 bantam chicks under her and she has taken to them SO well!
Thanks for the tip - will know better next time......
