Title: plum jam problem
Post by: jalland on August 31, 2011, 22:38
Hi - new to the forum.
I've made a batch of victoria plum jam, but it has set very stiff. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I could 'loosen' it a little?

You would have to put it back in the pan, and very gently melt it again and add a little water.

Test for setting on  cold saucer so that you don't make it too runny this time and put into clean jars that have been re-sterilised.

Or of course eat it sliced

We could blend our fruits together, my damson is a tad runny.  I'll have to re-boil for a few minutes. ::)      (but the ten gallons of damson wine is coming along fine)!     Cheers,    Tony.
