As I said, I don't think it's weevil. They would not do damage like this, which is also very high up for slugs.  Sorry for the quality, taken from near top right of the original.

That's ok, it was just a quick shot I took this morning as I wressled with some fencing stuff, pegs and posts before leaving for work (I didn't do a great job but better than nothing).  I have been seeing increasing number of pigeons flying over the house and the adjacent rapeseed field not seen them land in the garden but it would only have been matter of time.

I have a second batch to go out, so will fence them off from day 1!

Is it too late to start some more off?

There's plenty of time, but you run a greater risk of pea moth and mildew - but nothing ventured and all that!

Well I've been monitoring my peas almost daily now, keep comparing them to the original photo to see if there's been more damage or any progress.

I do think now that there is some new growth which although small looks healthy - they will stay where they are who knows.

I did start a load more off in paper pots from some donated seed, not actually sure on what the variety is, but hopefully tasty!
