A kettle of boiling water will kill them or a few dousings with the watering can to move them on.They will not stay if the nest gets flooded.

im about 2 miles from my allotment so the kettle might be a problem (flask).....the dousing seems an idea, cheers

When I took over my allotment last year I had a couple of really nasty ants nest plot had not been worked in a couple of years so they lived there peacefully I can remember them all over my courgettes and pumpkin.  They didnt do the plants any harm I can remember getting nipped often and it hurt :(

All the nests have been dug over and flattened so I'm hoping they've moved to the empty patch next to me
