am i too late for garlic

am i too late to sow garlic  started in pots or just direct in the ground and will it grow in a shaded area

Mine only went in last week and according to Gardener's World right now is the latest for planting them out.

I'm not sure about them growing in shade though, maybe someone else has tried it and can advise.

I planted spring planting garlic last Saturday. Get it in now or it won't get enough cold weather for the bulb to split into cloves.  They need an open situation so don't put it in shade

better get mine in quick then - but last year they didnt go in til at least april first couple weeks and they did ok, bit small but ok, tasted fab

thanks so i will pop some in a pot then and hopefully find it a sunny patch on the plot  :)
