Title: Oooh... just sent an email to a breeder enquiring about getting cailles :D
Post by: Casey76 on June 02, 2010, 10:12
I must be getting brave in my old age... normally I would never send an email to a stranger (in French!) about things like this.

He breeds Japanese quail, which, as I understand, are fairly prolific layers.  Now I just have to figure out, where abouts I'm going to put them!

~so are you getting callies or japs then??  Very different housing needed for both of these...

And if its callies, its not so much clipping their wings as cutting them off to stop them flying off!!!

Japs are great though.... i have about 300 at the moment!!!

I'm actually getting cornutix (sp?) eggs now.

The breeder had Japanese, but they were all, well, quail coloured, and I've seen these eggs and they come from different coloured birds.  Apparantly they are from a very docile line, and are not too keen to fly off at the drop of a hat!
