Title: Brexit planning
Post by: makedoandmend on August 26, 2018, 16:53
Sorry to swear!

Not sure where my allotment association get their seed potatoes from but I'm just a bit concerned that I may have problems getting some seed potatoes early next year.

I don't think the seed suppliers will suffer any major supply issues, but spuds may be different.

I plan on ordering early but......

Any thoughts - non political replies only!

Make do.

Nearly all seed potatoes come from Scotland so no worries there!

Yes, Scotland is where most seed potatoes come from. It's something to do with the weather not encouraging diseases.

lets blame Brexit no lets blame the weather no lets blame it on Donald trump he usually gets the blame for everything
although there could be a shortage of seed potatoes because of the season that will I fear rive up the price I haven't been made aware of that happening maybe the seed catalogues mite have a shortage of some varieties but that remains to be seen its not the end of the world if we have to buy another variety is it

and as said most of our seed spuds come from Scotland and there doesn't appear to be any probs at the moment fingers crossed

just to add we have about half an acre of potatoes to harvest cara looking good despite the dry season hopefully I can get well enough to lift them over the next weeks with family  help the annual potato picking day coming to an allotment near you

....and since the earliest possible date for Brexit is 19th March 2019 most seed potatoes will already be chitting, in stock rooms, sitting on shelves waiting to be bought etc etc.
