JBA Seed Spuds.
« on: January 29, 2011, 12:27 »
Our Lottie Society ordered 400KG of spuds form Gordale Nursery's and we went this morning to collect them. The seed spuds we have been sold are from JBA Seed Potatoes and I have to say the quality that we have had is first class, some really nice seed spuds.

I know JBA post on here so thanks to them for quality produce, its good to support small business's that offer quality and value.

99% Organic and 1% Slug Pellets.

Allotment holder since 27th May 2007.

Any chance you can come and do some digging then  ;)

I have 17 Kgs of Desriee, Marfona, Cara, Red Duke of York and Lady Chistl to plant in about 6 weeks time.

Spade will be provided.

Thanks for the offer of the use of the spade but you would have to dig the whole plot over so that I could see how you wanted it done in the first place :D

Did you get any Harlequin?

Hi Iain,

I have just put a small top up order in with your good selves for Lydd association. The main order had already been done before I got involved with the purchasing side of things.
When they turned up from the supplier, they were yours. So, I suggested we bought them from you direct in future, which we will do  :)

Out of interest Iain, what happened to Concorde first earlies? A lot of our plot holders used them in the past, but nobody seems to stock them now.
Cheers, Comfortably Numb.

I'm just off down the greenhouse. I won't be long ..........................

When I first left school we had Concorde and they were only grown by one farmer down in Devon. When he packed it in with potatoes the variety was lost as no one else would grow it.

That is what happens with many varieties. It is a real shame but that is the way it goes.

Thanks for the info Iain.

I'll pass it on to our plot holders who have been mystified by it's disappearance  :)

Glad to have helped.

Slightly off topic but has anyone been at a potato day today?

I hear Whitchurch has been a great success again and that Ryton was jam packed.

I tried to get Alan Romans on the phone to ask what it was like down there but his battery must be flat :)

JBA website is great - just placed my first order.  So much nicer knowing I am supporting a (relatively) local supplier, with decent product, than the shocking service and seed pots I got from T&M last year.

*Hope Im not breaking site rules

No you're not breaking the rules. You're fine recommending a company or product in which you have no personal financial interest.

A bit off topic, but have people really bought their spuds and started chitting them already?  I hadn't planned on planting them til March/April.

Do they really take that long to chit?
